The Pariette

Tim hauled us all way out into the desert today through his company's oil field to show us "The Pariette" which is the BLM's wetlands. It was a good 50+ miles from here. He thought it would be a great photo-op for me... what he doesn't realize is that the worst time to shoot is in full sun in the middle of the day (which was when we were there)....and the fact that I'm into portrait photography, not landscape photography. He thinks a good photographer should be able to shoot anything. So, not exactly my thing -- but at least we spent some time together as a family.

For a good part of the drive all you could see for miles and miles were oil wells. It's kind of hard to tell in this picture but those little tiny things are all oil wells:

We ate lunch when we got to the ponds then introduced the kids to Cattails, which are now ALL over the inside of my van!

We then drove around for a while trying to find the Green River, which Tim was sure was very close...but apparently not THAT close. We never did find it but I did find a bit of shade to shoot in:

After we gave up on finding the river we went to the highest lookout point where we could see the wetlands below (that was definitely the best view of the trip).
